Make Your Wall Resemble Your Soul

The pieces of art you like are like a glimpse into your truest perspective and outlook on life. Out of so many ways how you can incorporate an artwork in your design, I suggest wall posters. It’s the most creative and cheapest way to communicate exactly what you want, while making sure that the investment is timeless. So let’s elaborate on wall posters a bit more…

I have a deep love for posters. While I was growing up, many posters occupied my walls, welcomed me home after school, reminded me what’s important to me. And now that I have grown up, it hasn’t changed much. Wall posters are multi-generational, even in this modern sci-fi technological time, the simple wall posters are still popular.

Posters have a lot of purposes, they are not merely decorative items that add aesthetic value. They are also used for advertisement and propaganda as well. And of course, we all love them because it is cheaper to make and buy a poster out of a painting than it is to actually buy the real painting. Since the invention of the first printers in 1840, people started mass producing posters. Some places sell wall posters with the designs of artworks as old as 1940.

Design tips:

If you don’t know where to start with adding posters into your home design, here are some simple tips that can guide you to becoming a pro poster placer.

  • Frame it – If you don’t want to use tape or you want to keep a more professional style, simply put it in a frame.
  • Work the colours – If you have a red lamp on your night stand, then put a red colour dominant poster over your bed.
  • Less is more – When it comes to posters, minimalism wins. ex. Stamp art of a fly, put into a small frame, fits in every theme and room.
  • The more the merrier – Don’t like the minimal style? Well get a few posters that work together, be it pattern or colour wise, and hand them in a cluster. This will conjoin their meaning creating a big piece of art comprised of small, unconnected arts.
  • Wall hugger – Make sure that the wall colour and the colour of your art compliment each-other, otherwise it will just look out of place. You can even add a theme to fit your art-wall relationship.
